Perspective: The Size of the Interior World

Image
Perspective is the size of our interior world. This interior world reflects the exterior reality, but it is limited by the dimensions of space and time.   When we are young, our interior world is small, giving us the illusion that we are big, important, and even the center of existence. As we grow and mature, our interior world expands, broadening our perspective. We gradually realize that the world is vast and that we are not at its center. We also become aware of time and our limited presence within it.   The difference between a highly intelligent but immature person and a mature, intelligent individual is not the level of intelligence—they may be equally smart. The distinction lies in perspective. The mature person possesses a broader perspective on the world, considering both space and time, which grants them something beyond mere intelligence—wisdom.   True wisdom comes from calibrating our interior world to more accurately reflect the external world—reality. ...

The Universe, Energy, and the Reality of Karma

Image
The universe is an interconnected web where every movement in one place influences and affects another, even at great distances. The hidden life force of the universe is energy—constantly flowing, shifting, and seeking balance. Energy has an intrinsic tendency to stabilize, ensuring its endurance and prolonging the existence of all things. This pursuit of equilibrium is not random; it is the universe’s fundamental mechanism for sustaining itself. Every action and reaction, no matter how small, is part of this grand balancing act. The universe, in its silent wisdom, responds accordingly, adjusting and restoring harmony when imbalance arises. Karma as Universal Rebalancing Hinduism defines karma as the relationship between an individual’s actions—both mental and physical—and the consequences that follow. It extends beyond a single lifetime, shaping future experiences based on past deeds. Essentially, karma is the law of cause and effect applied to morality, guiding the universe...

A problem well-stated is half solved.

Image
If you can come up with a clear and concise description of the problem, then you’re halfway there to finding a solution.   Clarity is key when it comes to understanding and solving a problem. As the ever-wise Charles Kettering knew: "A problem well-stated is half-solved." In other words, if you can come up with a clear and concise description of the problem, then you're halfway there to finding a solution. I have found in my own life and career, that most problems aren't as big or as complicated as I may have thought as soon as I take the time to contemplate and state them clearly. Another relevant quote is from Albert Einstein- " If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it enough." So the real secret to solving problems quickly is to fully understand the problem.   But how do you get to this state of understanding? The answer is simple - break down the problem into manageable chunks, and then address each chunk one at a time. I...

The Role of Entertainment and Art in Society

Image
I have often wondered about the role of entertainment in the world. Many professions contribute to society by solving problems or implementing a vision for the future. However, the value of art—especially the branch derived from it – entertainment—has often seemed unclear. Art takes many forms: music, films, paintings, literature, and more. While it may not directly address material needs, its significance in shaping civilization is undeniable. Though art might appear to hold the least tangible value in society, it plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving the world. The Purpose of Art: Inspiration The primary function of art is to inspire. It fuels imagination, provokes thought, and encourages people to appreciate civilization. Through inspiration, art motivates individuals to contribute to society, pursue meaningful endeavors, and strive for betterment. Those who dedicate themselves to the arts hold an essential role in society: to inspire others. True artists creat...

The Power of Reactions: Maturing the Forces Within

Image
We are born into this world as blank slates, with untrained bodies, minds, and spirits. As we grow, we begin to shape these aspects of ourselves. In recent decades, humanity has placed a strong emphasis on developing the will—the force of the spirit that empowers us to act, persevere, and overcome obstacles. From childhood through adulthood, we are encouraged to cultivate our willpower, recognizing it as one of our greatest strengths. Yet, in our pursuit of will, we often overlook another fundamental part of the spirit: our reactions. The spirit is not built from actions alone but from reactions as well. Reactions are instinctive responses to situations or events, designed to protect, warn, and guide us. When combined with a trained will, reactions can transform us into adept problem solvers. The Three Primary Reactions: Anger, Fear, and Faith Among the vast spectrum of human emotions, three primary reactions shape how we face the world: anger, fear, and faith . Each of these e...
